Indigo Collection
inspired by Indonesia
The Indigo Collection is designed to offer each wearer a unique sense of pride and individuality. Our pieces embody comfort, authenticity, and a rich cultural heritage.
While running a fast-paced fashion business in Barcelona, I often pondered the origins of the textile industry. This curiosity led me to conduct extensive research on colors and dyes. I began experimenting with nearly a hundred different plants and insects in my Mallorca studio. Each color has its own unique story from history.
I was eager to visit the places where these traditions began: India, Turkey, the Mediterranean, Mexico, and Indonesia. It was in Bali, at Thread of Life, where I first learned to dye with indigo.
Indigo has been cherished across cultures for centuries, not only for its deep, vibrant hue but also for its symbolic meanings of protection, wisdom, and infinity. Its deep blue color has been used in various rituals and holds a special place in many cultural heritages.
In Indonesia, I found almost forgotten recipes still actively preserved or revived. This inspired me to create a collection dyed with indigo on heritage Gedog fabric. Gedog fabric has been made by a small community in East Java since the 11th century. The traditional fabric-making process is lengthy, starting with manual spinning and ending with weaving on a traditional loom. These fabrics are believed to be protective and hold significance in sacred events.
Thank you for supporting this collection and being a part of its journey.
